“We have had our Cell Disrupter (TS Series Bench Top) for less than a year, and we cannot understand how we were managing without it. The reproducibility of the process is an important advantage compared to the systems we worked with before. We use it for releasing heterologous proteins from E. coli as soluble product as wells in inclusion bodies. With the One Shot Head Adapter we can disrupt cells from small scale flask experiments, and in continuous mode we have used the machine for processing material from high density fermentations in 10 liter scale. The support from Constant Systems has been fast and efficient whenever we needed advice on technical matters.” |

“Our Constant Systems Cell Disruptor (TS Series Model)is a reliable workhorse in the laboratory, consistently producing excellent lysis results and requiring very little maintenance. It can process rather small volumes of bacterial cultures as well as fermentation batches in an equally efficient manner. I have used several different methods and solutions for cell lysis and this is definitely my preferred solution of choice.” |

“We have had the cell disrupter from constant system for the last 9 years and are very pleased with it. We process 2x2½L of e coli homogenate twice a week, the homogenization is done in ½ hrs, which is a whole lot faster than the chemical/enzymatic process that we used before. The high pressure does wear the O-rings down, but shifting them is now done as a maintenance on a regular basis by our technician. I am not sure what we should do without it.” |

“We have used the Constant Systems machine for over 5 years for cost effective disruption of Yeast (brewers yeast) cells verses the expensive use of lyticase enzyme. Since we have used the machine with cultures from under 100ml to over 10 litres we have saved the cost of the machine verses the use of lyticase. It has reduced our processing times by removing long tedious steps of our previous method. After a few months of optimisation we were using the single shot and continuous flow adaptors interchangeably with confidence in so much that we were happy that the method produced material similar to previous methods. Our application requires maximum disruption of the biomass with minimal disruption to the endoplasmic reticulum and their related proteins. The machine is able to produce a suitable compromise and the ability to cool the samples is perhaps key to our ability to recover active protein. Before purchasing we looked at other mechanical methods of disruption these tended to require sample low volumes, had consumable elements, no temperature control and less control of the force of disruption. We took delivery on time and the servicing has been to professional standards. During demonstration and after purchase constant systems were able to offer some advice using the machine. Due to the robust nature of the equipment it tends to have no problems if used correctly. As far as we know at the time of purchase and now there is not a better machine for our application. ” |

"We have had two Constant Systems cell disrupters in our fermentation suite for several years. In this time dozens of users from diverse backgrounds have employed the cell disrupters to break tens or hundreds of grams of cells per use - all have obtained excellent breakage, and subsequently good yields of their proteins. New users require minimal instruction with these conceptually simple machines, cleaning is straightforward and service by Constant Systems is second to none." |

"We took delivery of a TS Series 2.2kw disruptor system at the end of February 2011, for use in our research on bacterial and yeast membrane transport proteins. For our work we needed a means of disrupting cells from cultures ranging in volume from 1 to 100 L, in order to make preparations of membranes as the starting material for purification of the proteins. We wanted a machine that was efficient, straightforward to operate, reliable and suitable for use up to several times a day by multiple operators, as an adjunct to a microbial fermentation facility. Since its installation, the disruptor has been heavily used and we have been delighted by the quality of the preparations that it yields, its ease of use and, most importantly, its reliability. We have also been pleased with the very helpful advice on its use provided by Constant Systems, and by the quality of the service provided by the Constant Systems service engineer during the installation and routine maintenance visits. I can therefore highly recommend this machine – Professor Steve Baldwin, Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology, University of Leeds" |
